A Day Trip to Mount Fuji (Kawaguchiko), OCT 2015
When I was planning my Tokyo trip, I had been thinking to go to Kamikochi (上高地), but it takes almost 5 hours from Tokyo to the highland. Though the place is superb but seems it is quite time consuming andnvery exhausting to travel there for hours, no matter by train or bus, and just stay there for a couple of hours and rush back to tokyo.
So my second option was going to Mount Fuji.
Though it still took us 3 hours to get there but it did not feel that long actually.
As we were staying in Ikebukuro, so we went to the travel center which is at the JR station west exist. the travel center is near Tobu Ikebukuro.
The easiest way to check the schedule of the train is to use google map.
I showed my selected time (as below) of the train and showed to the staff of the travel center.
Thanks for the technology now, it makes travel easier. The fare is also including the fare from Ikebukuro to Shinjuku. Remember you don't have to buy extra ticket, just show your pass to the monitor of the train station.
We can see Mount Fuji when we were on the way to Kawaguchiko station.
Kawaguchiko 河口湖站 is the final stop to Mount Fuji. The train actually looks very cute.
The station is not as big as the tokyo city station but it also has a souvenir shop and a restaurant.
The pass also included the bus fare (the fare of single trip is around 1350yen) from Kawaguchiko station to 5th Station of Mt. Fuji 富士山五合目 which is the starting point of the climbers.
