Autumn Ginkgo 2015

It is cherry blossom season now.
Autumn foliage? seems it is not the right time to write a post of that.
Actually the trip to Tokyo was in last Nov. I just haven't had the mood to write anything.

People are more thrilled for cherry blossom in spring time. It makes Japan the no.1 travel destination for sakura.

After looking at the pictures, do you want to see autumn foliage in Japan too?
Maybe this post can help you to prepare your autumn trip.

When we talk about autumn foliage, we usually imagine the red maples leave all over the place.
I can say that the golden ginkgo trees are as stunning as the red maple trees.

Showa Kinen Park 昭和記念公園 in Tachikawa (立川) is the place must go in the autumn season in Japan.
If you are planning to go to tokyo but also want to see the other side of the busy beesy part of tokyo.
The park is the best place to explore the tranquilized side of Japan.
Just take the JR Chuo Line 中央本線 in Shinjuku. It takes around 50 mins to Tachikawa.
It is better to transit from Tachikawa station and take the Ome line 青梅線 to Nishi-Tachikawa 西立川 where I would recommend as the starting point to visit the park. So you can leave the park in Tachikawa exit.

There was a map shown (japanese only) at the entrance indicating what type of blossoms in different area.

No worry that if you don't know the way. Just follow the crowd.
Once you get in the park for 10mins, you would see the golden ginkgo leaves all over the ground.
It was amazing as this was the first time I saw so many golden leaves all around the place.
And it was amazingly beautiful.

There were so many people and actually it was pretty difficult to take a pic without any human being.

There was an area for the red maple trees too.
I did not expect that I have to walk for 3 hours to see almost everything in the park.
It was nice to picnic on the grass area.
But I did not bring any food so I left the park with a super empty stomach.

All you need is a camera and a smart phone with enough space.
Google Map App also helps you to get there too.
