BRILLER SAKURA HOSTEL REVIEW/ OSAKA JULY 2016

I hope I can finish writing all the posts about the Osaka trip as soon as possible.

As I am going to be away from my home real soon, and it may procrastinate my writing speed as well.

okay.

Let's start the review of 'maybe the best' Hostel in Osaka.

_______________

Firstly,

LOCATION:

Location is GREAT!

2 mins walk from SUBWAY SAKURAGAWA Station exit 4 (桜川駅).

Sakuragawa is just one stop next to the most popular tourist spot and also the central area of transportation in Osaka-NAMBA (難波).

Actually I have walked from Namba to the hostel. It took around 18 minutes and passed by Osaka City Air Terminal OCAT and a duty free supermarket (like Walmart).

If you are going to take limousine bus from Kansai Airport. It takes around 15mins to get to the hostel.

Sakuragawa is not a busy area and it is quite quiet at night but there are several restaurants ( from low to mid- range), 2 supermarkets and 1 Daiso shop (100 yen shop inside the supermarket) near subway exit 4 ( stairs - only one) and they are all situated just a 2-3mins walk from the hostel.

It is really easy to locate.

I booked the hostel thru hotels.com.
I received the email from Ray who works for the hostel the next day.
The email was about the direction from airport to Sakuragawa.
and the way from the subway exit to the hostel.

It was pretty detailed as he attached a few pictures showing the direction to the correct exit.

It took me around 1.5 hrs from Kansai Airport to Sakuragawa. The airport train only stops at Namba.
So I have to transit from there to Sakuragawa station.

and there was a long walk from Nankai Station to the Namba subway station.

and there were so many people inside the station too.
Not easy to walk pass the crowd with big suitcase.

I arrived at the hostel around 8 that night.

The hostel is quite easy to be found even it was dark at night.

AS THE DOOR IS IN PINK!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

CHECK-IN:

The hostel door was unlocked.

Once I opened the door, there was a long STAIRCASE ahead.

The No. of stairs should be double of the picture shown.
and it is quite steep too.

I had to hold my breath and carry my suitcase way up to the top.....

Before opening the door to the place, everyone has to take off their shoes and put them on the shelves.

It took around 5 minutes to check in.

The guy at front desk speaks in English.
Not super fluent but easy to understand and he is a polite person too.

I got an info sheet with all the details on.

I got a key for the locker, a towel, pillowcase and bedsheet.

ROOM:

The female-only dorm is quite big.

Since it was opened in April 2016, everything is new.
No unpleasant smell.
Looks clean and tidy.

There are 3 tables and a few chairs, racks and hangers.
All lockers are at the other side of the room and some shelves for the luggages.

All the bunk bed are separated by dark fabric sheet to keep it  private.
They are all close to each other.

A curtain at the end of bed and it was the only entrance that I can get it the bed.

Everyone has to make their own bed since there is no service for that.

Actually it is easy to do.

The room is 100% SAME as the picture shown on hotels.com.

BATHROOM:

There is no worry that you forget to bring shampoo or shower gel.
They are all provided in the shower room.
Conditioner, even makeup remover & toner are also provided.
There are  3 or 4 hair dryers provided too.

The shower room and toilet is clean and neat unless after peak hour like after 10pm or 9am.

Sometimes water were spread all over the place or clogged sink. It is all about the quality of the travellers not the hostel problem.

There are only 3 showers which is not enough if the hostel are full.
I saw some ladies lining for shower after 1030pm.
If you are usually back late, be prepared to wait for bath time.

AMENITIES:

The BEST part is the complimentary drinks & snacks!

Even a few bottles of water saves you a few pennies everyday!

The fridge is always filled with bottle waters, beer, tea and other soft drinks.
Popsicles are in freezer too.

There are some snacks like chips, kit kat and candies.

The snack corner is in the Mixed Dorm, so I had to walk upstairs to get them.

Breakfast is provided
(a small bun with some jam)
too with self served coffee and tea.

SAFETY:

Japan is a safe country. The street is quite quiet after dark and not many pedestrianS.
The hostel door is locked after 9. A reminder that you have to keep ur suitcase with a padlock or put your valuable items in a locker.

SOME SUGGESTIONS:

1. Place some mirrors in the dorm room.

The ladies room was packed especially at peak time.
It is easier if there are mirrors in the dorm room so the ladies can put on makeup in the dorm instead of staying in ladies room for long time.

2.  Additional fridge and snack corner inside female-dorm.
Just I am lazy to walk upstairs.

3.  A sign to remind people to keep quiet at late night.
TOO MUCH PEOPLE TALKED LOUDLY IN THE MIDDLE OF NIGHT.

4. We need some hooks inside the shower room for clothes.

_______________

GENERAL COMMENTS:

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

❤️❤️❤️❤️

NEW, CHEAP, CLEAN AND SAFE.

Something that I did not like is the bed is a bit too close to each other.
Though there is fabric sheet separated but it was too easy to hear the voice from other side.

And it would be the perfect if
there is a toilet and shower room inside the female dorm.

As I did not like to walk pass the reception counter after shower, especially they are all guys.

The quality of the the roommates is an important factor too.

Some people are not considerate, especially those talked loudly at night or kept the alarm ringing non stop in early morning.

However, it is uncontrollable.
